An Immersion Day gives us something that a regular yoga class cannot: time.
Time to practise more deeply, explore a theme from different perspectives, ask questions, study, experiment and understand how the physical, philosophical and cultural dimensions of yoga connect.
Each day has its own programme, but may include:
Each of our five Immersion Days explores a different dimension of the yogic tradition. You can attend just one, choose the themes that interest you, or experience the complete series.
Journey into the world of Hanuman through the Rāmāyaṇa and explore the relationship between strength, devotion, courage and service. The day connects philosophy with dynamic Hatha Yoga, Mudgar and traditional Indian strength practices, mantra, Sanskrit and an Āsana Lab around postures such as Hanumanāsana and Añjaneyāsana.
Explore Śakti, the dynamic feminine power of the Indian traditions, through goddesses such as Durgā, Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī and Kālī. Through Hatha Yoga, stories, symbolism, mantra and philosophy, discover the different expressions of strength, knowledge, abundance, transformation and intuition.

Meet Shiva as Ādiyogi, the archetypal first yogi and one of the most important figures in the history and imagination of yoga. Explore his symbolism and stories alongside Traditional Hatha Yoga, meditation, mantra, philosophy and practices connected with stillness, transformation and inner awareness.
Explore Vishnu, the preserver, and the concept of dharma through philosophy, mythology and yoga practice. Discover Vishnu's avatāras and stories while exploring what balance, responsibility and right action can mean both within yoga and in everyday life.
Travel into the philosophical foundations of yoga through Patañjali, the Yoga Sūtras and other legendary sages connected with the yogic tradition. Explore the Eight Limbs of Yoga, meditation, Sanskrit, traditional stories and the fascinating links between the names of ancient sages and some of the āsanas we still practise today.
At Yogic Spirits, philosophy is not something we want to separate from practice. When we explore Hanuman, his stories of devotion, courage and service can become the starting point for movement, strength work and reflection. When we explore Shiva, meditation and stillness allow us to experience ideas that appear in his symbolism and stories. With Patañjali, concepts such as prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra, dhāraṇā and dhyāna can move from words in the Yoga Sūtras to something we actually practise. This relationship between practice, philosophy and Indian culture is at the heart of our Immersion Days.

You do not need to be a yoga teacher, know Sanskrit or have studied yoga philosophy before.
Our Yoga Immersion Days are designed for curious and dedicated practitioners who want to understand yoga more deeply, as well as yoga teachers wishing to expand their knowledge and continuing education.
You can join whether you have been practising for many years or have simply reached the point where you want to discover what exists beyond the physical postures.
Each Immersion Day can be attended independently.
Yogic Spirits is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).
Each completed Immersion Day represents 8 hours of continuing education, and participants can receive a certificate of completion.
The Immersion Days are therefore particularly valuable for yoga teachers looking to continue their education, but you do not need to be a teacher or registered with Yoga Alliance to participate.
